Never say never! A natural twenty is only one in twenty odds. She's got like a 5% chance, which is enough for most to gamble on.

not like she really has a choice anyway, she can roll the save, voluntarily fail the save or take some immediate action ability before the save is rolled and since she's a pretty low op ranger i'm seriously doubting the last one is an option.

ok geeking out on the estimated CR of this trap. Low op single classed ranger 4 with a 14 WIS for perception and ranger spellcasting is looking at a save bonus of +3. Needing a nat 20 to pass means a save DC of 23. to generate a save DC of 23 a caster with an ability modifier of +6 (22 or 23 in primary casting stat) and spell focus is looking at a minumum level of 11 with 13 being much more common. so yeah she's encountering this thing about 9 levels before she should.
